Warm Winter Nights

Thoughts by the fire place

My Body Guard

I have known Freddyx since almost his first day in SL. Always exploring, he started as a homeless and all his clothes were from Hobbo. Slept in a card box or in a tent and was always ready for a good laugh and piece of conversation.

All of a sudden he bought some land, turned into a DJ – a very successful one as a matter of fact – and last but not least he is now a Neko – my niece Sonya is to blame on this one.

He became my body guard a few months ago when he spent a whole party dancing behind my back. Now when I need a dance partner I just have to call him and, if he is not busy, there he comes.

Thank you for your friendship Fredd and for always being there when I need you.

Negresco

The newly wed Aggio and Katie opened a new Jazz Club called Negresco. Inspired in the well known Bar and Restaurant with the same name in Manchester, they managed to recreate the cozy and intimate ambiance you can experience in RL, with a remarkable attention to details, from the table lamps to the pictures on the walls.

The deco in red and black, the comfortable couches in shadowed corners inviting to an intimate chat, the background jazz music and the inviting dance floor are complemented by an outside esplanade where you can watch the sunset in a good company.

Drop bye and take a look for yourself. The dress code is formal and the crew is there to welcome you and make your visit even more pleasant.

Castles and Dragons

I’ve been back to exploring thanks to Max (and to my somewhat more stable connection) and yesterday we went to explore some medieval Sims. In one of them we found a Mage and his Apprentice that explained us a bit about Medieval roleplaying.

I’ve never been much into roleplaying, cause it is difficult for me to get myself apart from the characters and assuming some kind of role in whatever plot. But the passion these two new friends of ours put in their words almost made me think I could actually get into it. I got to explore a bit more that side of SL and then, who knows? May be the “Milady”, as my friend Fokas likes to call me, comes up for real *winks.

We were exploring the island when I got invited to a Celtic Concert in IoW. Every time I have the chance to be with my Elven and Dragon friends I take it gladly. They always make me feel so welcome and have lots of fun with them.

When we arrived there the place was beautifully decorated with a Circle of Drums and beautiful Celtic Music. Lots of laugh, teasing and interesting conversation was going on and, once again, Dragons proved to be the most wonderful hosts I have come across in my life. Made some new friends and the night ended only because that blessed clock doesn’t stop ticking.

Thank you Sun and Ky for the lovely invitation as well as to all the others that warm my heart with their caring and friendship.

Second Life Ballet & Halden Beaumont

Like I have posted here, my friend Halden Beaumont was nominated media director of SL Ballet and has been working hard on the project.

Finally the complete machinima video has came out and for those of you who hadn’t the chance to see The Nut you can now watch it here thanks to the great job Halden has done, wining his battle against lag and all the SL hickups we are so familiar with.

Act I

Act II

Act III

If you have the time and even if you don’t understand a word of Portuguese (he is too lazy to write in English hehe) drop by his blog and show him your appreciation.

[UPDATE] Halden did write the post in English afterall heheheh

Piano

Most of my friends know that I love piano. Not that I can really play it, I did have some lessons in another life but was too young to know that you have to do the same exercises over and over again before you can actually play anything, so I got fed up and dropped it.

But there are few things that please me most than to listen to some piano piece. I just forget everything around and stay there completed focused on the hands moving over the ebony and ivory, identifying every note, decoding every message and feeling a peace not easily reached any other way.

TP, my lil bro, just appeared the other day at his bar in Paradisus-Portucalis with his new toy… guess what? A piano! A gorgeous piano with place for two people playing together.

SL was a mess that day (what else is new?) and we couldn’t teleport anywhere and no one seemed to be able to reach us in Portucalis (thankx LoL for SIM restarts), so we just sat  there and played for more than an hour to the few friends gathered around us.

I hadn’t such a lovely night in a long time. We will repeat that for sure and this time in a proper place and – if the Linden Gods allow it – in a better SL day. Thank you bro.

Virtual Floyd in Portucalis

On Sunday 6th at 11:00 AM PDT (19:00 GMT) the Portucalis Auditorium will receive the Virtual Floyd Concert produced by Bobby Fallon.

After the success of the AC/DC concert we are glad to receive another of Bobby’s productions at our Islands. Try to arrive early cause the sim can only support 100 avis, and you wouldn’t want to miss it, now would you?

Leave you with the promotional video but be sure that nothing compares to being there!

What’s your theme song

Another of those quizzes I like and guess what is my theme song? Not just a great song but also from one of my favourite bands :)

What’s yours?

Your Theme Song is Beautiful Day by U2

“Sky falls, you feel like

It’s a beautiful day

Don’t let it get away”You see the beauty in life, especially in ordinary everyday moments.

And if you’re feeling down, even that seems a little beautiful too.

SL’Ang – A real Magazine about SL

Last week I met Uzi Boa. She was introduced to me by my good friend Ibrahim and I showed her around Portucalis. Uzi is Polish and we chatted a bit about the project she’s in: SL’Ang Life, a magazine that is distributed to your RL door by mail.

Usi passed me the information about the project and I share it here with you, cause I really find the idea quite innovative and interesting.

In January 2008 Slang Corp. published the first issue of SL’ang Life magazine. The magazine is in English and delivered to subscribers all over the word by post. It is free of charge and delivery costs! In order to receive a brand new 48-page (A-4 format) issue every month, visit Sl’ang Life’s virtual island and subscribe by filling in a form on www.slanglife.com.

Sl’ang Life publishers compare the magazine to Newsweek, so it aspires to be opinion shaping press. Its main frame consists of four major sections: SL life, SL culture and style, SL economy and SL entertainment. There you will find interviews with personalities of the month, current affairs and descriptions of important events and places in SL connected with culture, business and politics as well as music, fashion and travel corners, technical advice, novel in episodes and many other trivia. As Macciej Schumann (CEO) said during the opening ceremony – the aim is to present opinions and comments expressed by avatars and journalists, both from SL and RL, in a wide international perspective.

Check also their blog here and if you have time take a look at the SL’Ang Island and enjoy yourselves.

AC/DC Tornado Alley Tour

This Sunday, March 16th, at 12 (noon) PST the AC/DC Tornado Alley Tour will arrive to Portucalis Auditorium .

Bobby Fallon has been doing a great job recreating famous concerts from famous RL bands in Second Life.

From AC/DC to Queen, his shows are simply amazing in colour, sound and… lag (well we can no longer live without it can we?).

Anyways I am really proud to have them there tomorrow and next sunday. Not going to tell you which band yet, but keep an eye here for further info *winks

Friends will be friends…

Lately some of my friends are considering leaving SL ’cause the psychological stress is just too much for them to handle and, what was supposed to be a playground, turned into a serious battle field.

Seeing all this just makes me think why do people mess things up even when they are given a second chance. I know we are only human with flaws, but is it living in peace just so difficult? Is it really needed to turn what can be a magic life into hell?

RL has enough problems for most of us, please don’t destroy your playground and others. If there is something you don’t like just talk to that person or back away from he/she if you think it isn’t worth talking. That is so easy to do with a click on the remove or the mute buttons.

At the end of the process friends will always be friends, taken as they are with all the qualities and flaws, and you know who you are and that you are in my heart forever, no matter in what lives we meet.
