Warm Winter Nights

Thoughts by the fire place

Love…

When you hold somebody’s heart in your hands, your head twists and turns.

And I have the proof

Rock climbing

I know I haven’t been writing much here and I apologize to my readers (yes, all three of you) but between preparing two exhibitions, doing research and taking pictures for Right Click Wear (did I tell you I hate shopping?), opening parties, exhibitions and rezz day parties, my SLife has been so busy I hardly have time to breath. Oh! and shall we not forget the good old inventory cleaning after the holidays *sigh

Anyhow yesterday me and Blue went to this place called Native Lands for her to take some pictures of native American outfits. There is a complete lack of good native American clothing in SL. Com’on dear designers start doing some good outfits. I bet lots of us would love to have those Indian costumes.

But I digress! The point of this post is to tell you that what started to be a “work night” ended up as an adventure. The Island is beautifully build, full of gorgeous Indian artifacts, some stores, lovely houses, some of them embedded in the Grand Canyon wall and – drum roll here – a rock climbing wall.

Blue decided to try it and, although I have fear of heights, I decided to tag along.

We started kind of well but then my foot just slipped and I had to hold on to Blue’s ankle and couldn’t hold on for long and there I went down the hill from I don’t know how many feet high right to the stone floor…

Tagged again

My good friend Elora decided to tag me with the following challenge (her post is in Portuguese):

- Post your photo

- Choose a band/artist

- Answer the questions just with song titles from the chosen band/artist

- Tag 4 people

So here it goes

My photo:

- The band: Queen

The answers:

  1. How would you describe yourself? I’m going slightly mad
  2. What do people think about you? Friends will be friends
  3. How would you describe your latest romantic relationship? Save me
  4. Describe your present relationship. A winter’s tale
  5. Where you would like to be now? The Seven Seas (of Rhye)
  6. What do you think about love? A kind of magic
  7. How is your life? The show must go on
  8. What would you ask if only one wish was granted to you? Heaven for everyone
  9. Write a wise sentence. Spread your wings

I tag (and if you don’t answer no worries guys):

The ABC Fashion Challenge

Sunday night. Nothing to do except cleaning inventory and reading some of the blogs I follow.

Suddenly in Who let the Dorks out? I find a fashion challenge.

Here go the rules:

How it works: Put together an outfit with items from your inventory starting with the same letters like your avatar’s first name.

Basic rules:

- Use only items that you have in your inventory right now (no quick shopping spree beforehand).
- Skin, shape and eyes do not have to count towards it, unless you want to.

- Only the name of the item itself counts, not the the designer’s name, brand or the type of item (e.g. you cannot use “trouser” for T).

- Take a pic, make a list of the items used and post everything on Flickr or in your blog. Post the link to it either on Flickr or in the comments to the blog entry.
- Have fun!

Here is what I came up with and the names of the thingies

Willis II – Copper Blackened (ETD)

Isabelle Embroidered Bodice (Last Call)

Natasha’ Heels – BLACK (Tesla)

Teardrop Earrings – Silver (Miriel)

Erin Boho Flexi Prims (w/o bow) + Skirt Base (Last Call)

Regal feather hat (Kate McLaglen Creation)

New Mentors’ Graduation Party

Yesterday was the Graduation party of new Mentors. Being one of the photographers on duty I was there for a couple of hours dancing at Oliver’s rhythms (great job Oliver!) and shooting my camera around.

Most of us had over 4 hours of mentoring and really needed a break. This weekend the Help Islands (which replaced the Orientation islands for some time now) were filled with new residents who were driven by news of a divorce in England caused, or so they say, by a Second Life affair. Result?

Sex calls people and from what I saw over 2 thousand new residents must have arrived just yesterday. Of course the questions were “How can I have sex?”; “Do you want to have sex with me?” “I want to marry you and have children”. There were a couple of guys that even gave phone numbers and skype contacts in open chat as well as other RL information.

As mentors our job is to teach people how to use SL and to give assistance in technical or other issues. How do you teach someone that just asks the above questions? I don’t know about the others, but I see it as a chance to explain how to move, how to use search, speak about the social environment SL is (not only for sex) and how to interact with people and objects.

Most of them left for welcome areas (which were also crowded, The Shelter, for instance, was full) and off they went searching for someone to have sex with. Others started asking more questions which allowed me to explain what SL can offer.

It was a busy day. It was tiring but in the end it was quite gratifying.

What Winter means…

… not sure they are completly right but here it goes:

What Winter Means

You are very charming… dangerously so. You have the potential to break a lot of hearts.

You know how what you want, how to get it, and that you will get it.

You have the power to rule the world. Let’s hope you’re a benevolent dictator!

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It’s easy to get you excited… which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don’t stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless – and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You’re most comfortable when you’re far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You’re always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can’t handle you. You’re very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you’re likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

Treasure hunt at Owl’s Bay

Like  I said before, we at Owl’s Bay like to make you guys happy so we decided to have a Treasure Hunt for you all to enjoy.

There will be 14 Chinese hats spread all over the island, both outside and inside the buildings and even in places so obvious that they may pass unnoticed.

The prizes will range from tatoos to shoes, clothing, games and decorations. Some of them are originals and cannot be found for sale in SL (not yet, at least).

The hunt will start at 02:00 PM PDT here and will be on until October 12th, so that you will have time to get all of the hats and don’t need to do it all at once.

Leave you here a picture of the hat for you to know what you are looking for.

Happy hunting and if you need anything feel free to IM me inworld.

My Body Guard

I have known Freddyx since almost his first day in SL. Always exploring, he started as a homeless and all his clothes were from Hobbo. Slept in a card box or in a tent and was always ready for a good laugh and piece of conversation.

All of a sudden he bought some land, turned into a DJ – a very successful one as a matter of fact – and last but not least he is now a Neko – my niece Sonya is to blame on this one.

He became my body guard a few months ago when he spent a whole party dancing behind my back. Now when I need a dance partner I just have to call him and, if he is not busy, there he comes.

Thank you for your friendship Fredd and for always being there when I need you.

(Cam’on girls, no drooling over the pic)

  1. The stories should some how be connected to the theme “Once Upon a time in China”, once this is the theme for this month’s event.

  1. Stories can be submitted in Portuguese and/or English.

  1. The stories have to be non-published originals and may not exceed 2 A4 pages. A maximum of 6 photos can be added (1 being for the front cover). If you decide to present a comics story, the maximum number of pages will be 6 with a maximum of 6 pictures per page and an extra for the cover.

Note: All the photos have to be taken by the author or it/he/she should supply to the organization a written authorization by the photographer.

  1. All works must be sent until October 5th to owlsbay@gmail.com in .doc and .jpg files.

  1. The winner chosen by the jury will receive a L$ 1,000 cash prize and the book will be published and set for sale in Owl’s Bay Bookshop and other places that join the initiative.

The next two best stories will also be published and set for sale under the above terms.

Note: Owl’s Bay will retain a 20% percentage of every book sale.

  1. The winners will be announced on the “Once Upon a Time in China” closing party and the books launched at the same time (date shortly to be announced).

Are you still there? Come on! Get your feather, pen or keyboard and start writing. We are waiting for your master pieces.

Have fun and may the Muses be with you!
