Helping others

Yesterday everything was quiet in Portucalis after the last 2 crazy months and I stayed at home trying skins and outfits and whatever I could find that could help newcomers (I just don’t like the newb word hehehe) to do some Starter’s Kits to hand over.

Suddenly a request for a Portuguese Mentor to assist a Portuguese speaking person in Orientation Island nr. whatever (don’t remember… 27, I think). When I arrived there, the fellow mentor who had called for help and another avatar were there. The Portuguese speaker had already gone to do the tutorials and I hang around for a bit.

That other Avi was from November and I asked him why was he still there and didn’t go inworld to check how wonderful SL can be.

He just said that he loved to help newcomers go past all the tutorials and he didn’t want to leave. He was waiting to be “old” enough to become a Mentor like the friends he had already made there.

It is amazing how people can devote their lives – first, second, third – to help others with such a devotion. When I applied for Mentor I did want to help others, like I was helped (still am) and I try my best to do a job well done.

Those who know me, also know that I’m always helping everyone either on SL issues or others and I try my best to get all the answers even when the subject is beyond my knowledge. I love to help and stop whatever I am doing to help someone. But I would never consider to give up my SLife to “just” help others. And ’cause of that I was a little ashamed when I heard the answer of that wonderful guy.

Hope one day he gets out of the OI and he can see the wonders of Second Life and that he understands that he can also help others being in world.

What guys like about me?

After surfing around my usually daily blogs I came to this post on Tymmerie’s Blog and I just couldn’t resist doing the quiz.

Here is  the result. And me thinking they only got close ’cause of my looks *winks

Guys Like That You’re Sensitive

And not in that “cry at a drop of a hat” sort of way
You just get most guys – even if you’re not trying to
Guys find it is easy to confide in you and tell you their secrets
No wonder you tend to get close quickly in relationships!

Parties and friends

Yesterday was a great (and long) day.

After being with some SL friends in a RL lunch that lasted until dinner time (yeah… you can also forget time in RL hehehe), I went home to go to my friend Looker’s rezzday party, for which he was kind enough to invite me. Preciousse Mood opened the party with that beautiful voice of hers and I met some quite interesting people too, including Tymmerie Thorn, who I have been reading for ages and didn’t had the opportunity to meet in world yet. Had a lot of fun, but unfortunately I had to leave early, cause there was a party going at our own place and I had to be there.

After these last crazy weeks of work it was nice to just attend to parties instead of hosting them and have time to speak a bit with some friends.

I was preparing to log off when my good friend Piedro Ewing sends me a tp. Not is habit to do so, so I just accepted.

When everything rezzed I found myself in the middle of a beach, surrounded by Maia ruins and Piedro saying: “This is my new club, like it?”

I zoomed around and the place is simply gorgeous, everything fitting together, greatly decorated (Anabunny and him did a great job there).

The fireplace by the sea, opposite to the stage, the DJ booth with a curious martini glass that comes to be a dance machine, the native bar with cute details, the ruins and Maia statues and symbols, everything looks perfect and it gives a feeling of cosiness and warmth it is not easy to find in a club. Oh and I forgot he has an owl there too – got to get one myself (did I ever tell you I love owls?).

The opening is today (Sunday 27th) at 10:00 AM PST / 18:00 GMT with a concert by Orangelife Holmer.

Take a look at all the pics here and join us there today if you like.

Day after day

Yesterday I was about to log-in to Second Life and my hands just stopped and there I was staring at the screen asking myself “Why?”

Why do I get back over and over, day after day, into that crazy world, even when I am so tired RL that I can barely take my fingers to type.

A Gtalk window popped up – and the answer just appeared in front of me: Friends! Friends are what make me get back every day, not the projects, not the shopping, not even the parties, but People!

Those that already have entered my heart and that I miss deeply and worry about when they are not online.  Even though we may not talk for days, I know they are there and that makes me feel warm inside.

Some are gone forever, reasons from either world stole them away from me, but their memory persists.

Others are there, week after week, month after month, sharing good and bad moments, laughter and tears, or just warm silences by the fireplace.

Each of them a precious stone I cherish and love.

I clicked the connect button and…

Oh no!!!! IM hell again! *winks

Portucalis II

Yesterday our new Island rezzed in front of the beach huts.

Portucalis II is finally on the grid!

Why another island? Well Portucalis was starting to be too small for all the projects we have and also for all our friends that kept on asking to buy land there.

Hope to see you all there for all the events we are planning and, who knows, maybe to settle your home there.

I’ll keep you posted on further developments.

Busy busy

Well guys, I haven’t been writing much here, not because I don’t want to, but just because I don’t have much time these days.

We are shooting a TV show (for one of our national TV stations)  entirely in machinima in Portucalis on a daily basis and it is hours and hours of work.

(Note to self: Never enter the show business)

This is the first time a show is fully filmed in Second Life for a Portuguese TV (a first in the world?) , but Halden Beaumont is doing a great job and the guys from the TV station are really happy with the results so far.

The show will be broadcast on January 23rd.

Leave you here a photo of me with the character I am playing on the show (yes the guy with the guitar hehehe)

Siss

Today siss has her RL birthday. Just another one of many I have celebrated with her since our paths crossed.

Siss is my family. No matter if we weren’t born in the same family, that we met just 10 years ago. We have been “glued” to each other since then and gone through a lot together.

Not going to bother you with details, but she has always been there when I needed. She knows me better than I know myself and is there to praise me and to call me to reason when I need it.

We fight a lot, got different points of view on (a few) things but she is the most wonderful person I know, in spite of her bad temper (so she says hehe). A friend you can count on every time.

All this just to say I love you siss and I’ll always be here for you no matter what.

Me and Siss 1

Oh yes and we are twins in SL (every one knows that any way) Summer is on the right with the orange hair

And the Emmy goes to…

…Second Life, in the field of user-created-content. This is the beginning of the most recent post in the Official Blog signed by Philip Linden.

What really surprised me is the focus Philip does not on business itself, but on education and team work, stating even that ”education and work use is now growing at a larger relative rate than the overall growth of SL”.

Take a look at the link above for further reading. Meanwhile cheers to us all for the Emmy we won *winks

Emmy Awards

A special thanks to my good friend M2Life Paravane for bringing this to my attention.

Cross Roads

And there she was. Alone on the top of the mountain, snow falling from the skies stabbing her naked arms. She doesn’t feel it though. Her mind lost on thoughts about sun and laughter, long conversations by the sea.

Suddenly she wakes up. Cold enters her heart. She looks around, seeing nothing but a cross road. There are signs showing the way, but tears rolling from her eyes don’t let her see the way out.

Slowly she approaches the abyss. Sitting at the edge, her eyes lost on the sun that sets.

The night is soon to come. Her arms are wide spread to embrace it. Behind her the signs showing the way seem to sparkle in the dark, but she can’t see them.

She lays down on the snow, letting darkness embrace her. The blessing of unconsciousness falls upon her.

Now she doesn’t feel anymore.
