Warm Winter Nights

Thoughts by the fire place

Congratulations Halden

As many of you know, I have been following Halden Beamont’s path within the machinima and other media works he has been developing.

I am today proud to inform you that is work has been – once again – recognised and that he has been nominated Media Director for the Second Life Ballet.

Second Life Ballet is one of SL’s most prestigious institutions and with one of the biggest international projects within SL, if the not the bigger.

Congratulations Halden!

Santa Maria

Yesterday I was with three dear friends I haven’t seen for quite sometime and I’m so glad I did, because I had the chance and the luck to have a guided tour around their island.

Marina Xi has done an amazing job in Santa Maria. The attention to detail, the beautiful landscape, everything in the island is breathtaking and the more you look, the more you discover.

If you are looking for a place to live surrounded by beauty and peace, Santa Maria is definitely the place you are looking for.

I leave you some pictures here, but do take a look at my Flickr page and be enchanted by the atmosphere. Hope the pictures give you the same feeling I had when I was there.

Congrats Marina! Keep up the good work.

Wolf Creek – Winter Resort

Wolf Creek is one of the most amazing winter resorts I have been to in SL.

With lovely winter huts (to rent), sky tracks, horse tracks and beautifully landscaped it is definitely worth a visit!

(Oh! And they have camping there too, for those of you who don’t fear to scrub floor in the cold *winks)

Leave you here some pics and you can check some more on my Flickr.

Mankind Tracer in Concert

Mankind Tracer, for those who don’t know him, is one of the most popular live performers in SL. Singing originals or covers, this great musician just swaps whoeever is listening from their feet and drags crowds with him.

He is now planning the “20 SIM Peace Love & Belief live concert” and I am proud to inform you that Portucalis was one of the SIMs invited to participate. Leave you here the Official Press Release, don’t forget to get it in your Agenda and I’ll be waiting for you in Portucalis.

20 SIM Peace Love & Belief

On Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 2PM SLT, and in an incredible undertaking, Mankind Tracer, Second Life’s Premiere Rock Performer, is planning the largest ever FREE Second Life concert event. He will be streaming his show LIVE to an incredible 20 SIMS all around the SL Grid. The concert will start at the aptly named Mankind Tracer Amphitheater, located at Haven’s Paradise where Mankind hangs his hat, playing a few songs at each venue and will end at The Cape, sim of his close friend Kaiya Manbi.

Back in June of 2007, he launched his Mankind Tracer New Artist Program when he performed live to 12 different venues and helped launch the careers of several new acts still performing in SL. This event will top that by at least 8 venues, possibly more.

Mankind Tracer is known for his incredible live rock shows playing everything from classic Pink Floyd and Clapton to newer music like Plain White Tees and Creed, staying current on new songs and always taking requests from his Standing Room only audiences. The Friends of Mankind Group, now at almost 800 members, recently joined forces and donated an amazing $L170,000 to UNICEF at First Meta’s concert, sponsored for them.

The 20 Sim Concert is sure to make SL history as an event of this size has never been attempted before. The concert will consist of Mankind’s incredible original music blended with the many, MANY covers he performs including a long Pink Floyd set for his numerous fans who also love Floyd.

Venice

Finally I can tp without crashing and started to do a bit of exploring again. This time I decided to go to Venice.

Lots of shops around St. Marcus square and you can even take your sweetheart for a gondola trip around the channels. In the garden you have a big chess board that you can actually play, a giant wheel to ride and I’ll stop here and let you do your own exploring *winks

(You can see some more photos on my Flickr page)

Roma – Piazza di Spagna

The Roma SIM is already opened to the public. Sponsored by the RL Italian marketing company EV Group, the recreation of the famous Piazza di Spagna is perfect and we hope to see Fashion Shows there real soon as well as other events.

Talking with Abal Allen, who is in charge of the project, I asked him why did EVG decide to have a presence in SL. “We want to explore the innovation of Web 3.0″, he said. “And we believe that SL will be the new standard platform, already making the fusion between Web 2.0 and 3.0″.

With some of the stores already occupied by Italian designers, beautifully detailed apartments, the church and tramway on the top of the stairway, Roma is definitely worth a visit.
